Standard Requirements For Manufacturing Positions Most manufacturing positions at Proto Labs require employees to either sit or stand for most or all of their shift, lift up to 25 kgs waist high and carry up to 25 kgs. Other requirements include the ability to reach, bend, grasp, use a computer, read and write in English, do basic math and work safely with sharp and heavy objects.

Types of Manufacturing Jobs at Proto Labs UK
Finishing Operator This role is responsible for trimming plastic parts to customer specifications, counting, weighing and packaging parts. Finishing operators must be able to view and enter data on the computer and will be trained to operate hand and power tools such as knives, pliers, band saws, grinders and sanders.
Build TechnicianThis position will polish and assemble injection moulds. The build technician will be trained to have basic injection mould preparation skills such as de-burring, drilling and tapping, grinding, cutting and drilling. This position requires mechanical aptitude.
Experience using power tools in a metal working shop, including a drill press, is preferred as is experience with measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers and height gauges.
Milling OperatorThe milling operator sets up, operates and troubleshoots CNC milling machines. This includes loading materials, moulds and/or tools into the machines as well as cleaning and maintaining the machines and tools.
Experience using measuring instruments such as scales, calipers and dial indicators.
Material ControlIn material control, employees track and prepare material for use in the injection moulding process. Primary duties include retrieving, weighing, tracking inventory and storing materials; calculating material discrepancies; preparing and staging materials; and cleaning and loading dryers. Inventory control experience is preferred for this position.
Injection Mould Setters The Injection Mould Setters are responsible for setting up and processing injection moulding orders. Experience in first-time mould processing and sampling is required. Setters will also load materials into the machines, inspect sample parts for accuracy, troubleshoot and correct problems at the press.
